Cromoteca is built to keep your work on your Mac. This page explains, in plain terms, what does and doesn't leave your machine.
Your media stays local
Downloads, transcription, color extraction, and screen recordings all happen on your Mac. Files you download or record are saved to folders you choose on your own disk. Transcription runs on-device — audio is not uploaded to a server to be transcribed. Screen recordings are written only to your chosen folder and are never uploaded. Cromoteca does not require an account and does not sync your archive to any cloud.
Network requests the app makes
- Downloading: when you add links, the app contacts those sources to fetch the media you requested.
- Update checks: the app checks cromoteca.app for a newer version so it can offer updates.
Beyond fetching what you ask for and checking for updates, Cromoteca does not transmit your library or transcripts to us.
Payments
Purchases are processed by Stripe. Payment details are entered into Stripe's secure checkout and handled under Stripe's own privacy policy — we do not receive or store your full card number. We may receive basic order information (such as your purchase email) to deliver your download and provide support.
This website
You can browse cromoteca.app without creating an account. We aim to collect as little as possible. If you email support, we use your message and email address only to help you.
Your responsibility
Use Cromoteca for media you own, created, licensed, or are authorized to save. You are responsible for how you use media you download.
