How the workflow works
Download the video
Paste the YouTube URL into Cromoteca and download it to a local folder. Playlists of talks can be queued together.
Run local transcription
Transcribe the audio on-device. The spoken content becomes a text record you can read in full — no upload, the audio never leaves your Mac.
Search and quote
Scan the transcript for the moment you need, pull the exact quote, and keep it next to the source video in your archive.
Keep the pair together
Store the video and its transcript in the same project folder so the reference and its searchable text stay linked.

Locally, on your Mac. The audio is processed on-device, so nothing is uploaded for transcription.
How accurate is the transcript?
Local transcription is strong on clear speech and quieter on heavy accents, overlapping voices, or noisy audio — treat it as a searchable record rather than a certified transcript, and spot-check important quotes.
Can I transcribe a video I already downloaded?
Yes. Transcription runs on the media in your archive, whether you just downloaded it or saved it earlier.
