Instagram Stories

Save Instagram Stories before they expire

Stories disappear after twenty-four hours, which makes them the least archivable format on the platform. Cromoteca saves the ones you are entitled to keep to your own disk while they are still live.

Save your own work first

The clearest use for this is your own Stories: campaign posts, behind-the-scenes footage, and client work that vanishes a day later and is often not saved anywhere else. Cromoteca pulls the original file rather than a screen recording, so quality is preserved.

Someone else's Story

Only save another account's Story when you have permission or a clear right to keep it — for instance a brand archiving content a creator made under contract. Stories are frequently shared with an expectation of impermanence, and treating them otherwise is both a rights problem and a trust problem.

Limitations

Cromoteca reaches only what your own signed-in session can already see. It cannot retrieve an expired Story, it does not notify or conceal anything from the account owner, and it does not bypass privacy settings or close friends lists. Expired content is gone — there is no archive to recover it from.

How it works

  1. Stay signed in

Keep your own Instagram session active in your browser.

  2. Paste the Story link

Copy the link while the Story is still live — once it expires, it cannot be recovered.

  3. Save to a folder

Cromoteca writes the original file to the destination you choose.

FAQ

FAQ

Can I recover a Story that already expired?

No. Once a Story expires it is no longer served, and Cromoteca has no archive to retrieve it from. Stories must be saved while they are live.

Is saving a Story anonymous?

Cromoteca does not add or remove view notifications. It behaves like your own signed-in session, so normal platform behaviour applies. It is not a tool for viewing Stories covertly.

Should I save other people's Stories?

Only when you own the content, created it, licensed it, or are otherwise authorised. Stories are usually shared expecting them to disappear; keeping someone else's without permission is not a use Cromoteca supports.

Before you save anything. Use Cromoteca for media you own, created, licensed, or are authorized to save. Downloaded material is for personal archival, reference, or inspiration only — not for commercial use or redistribution. Cromoteca does not bypass paywalls, DRM, or access controls, and platform terms still apply to whatever you download.
