Instagram

Save Instagram video posts to your Mac

Instagram is where a lot of reference lives and where it disappears fastest. Cromoteca saves posts you are entitled to keep into a folder you control, so a dead link does not take your reference with it.

How access works

Instagram serves most media only to a signed-in session. Cromoteca uses your browser session rather than a shared or scraped account, so you can only reach exactly what your own account can already see. It does not create accounts, share credentials, or work around Instagram's access controls.

What you can save

Limitations

Private accounts you do not follow, content that has been deleted, and anything behind an access control you are not entitled to pass are all out of scope. Instagram changes its delivery frequently, so a post that worked last month may need an updated session. This is a reference and archival tool, not a way to take material that is not yours.

How it works

  1. Sign in normally

Stay signed in to Instagram in your own browser, exactly as you would to view the post.

  2. Paste the post link

Copy the link from the post's share menu and paste it into Cromoteca.

  3. Save it where you want it

Choose a destination folder and Cromoteca writes the file there.

FAQ

FAQ

Can Cromoteca download from private accounts?

Only what your own signed-in account can already view, and only when you are authorised to save it. Cromoteca does not bypass privacy settings or access controls.

Do I need to give Cromoteca my Instagram password?

No. Cromoteca uses the session already present in your own browser. It never asks for, stores, or transmits your Instagram credentials.

Why did a post fail to download?

Most often the post requires a signed-in session that is not currently available, has been deleted, or is restricted to an audience your account is not part of. Cromoteca reports the reason rather than failing silently.

Before you save anything. Use Cromoteca for media you own, created, licensed, or are authorized to save. Downloaded material is for personal archival, reference, or inspiration only — not for commercial use or redistribution. Cromoteca does not bypass paywalls, DRM, or access controls, and platform terms still apply to whatever you download.
